Holland House-Nashville, TN
935 West Eastland Ave,
I love this place. I love everything about it, from the staff to the drinks, to the local food and the booths that are bench style and the crushed velvet couches that I’d love to have. The staff and the drinks are the best part though. Last night Kayla and I had a new bar tender, one we hadn’t seen before and one that was extremely friendly and quite attractive.
Shameless plug, if you go and decide not to sit at the bar, ask for Michael to be your server-he’s awesome!
We went by to pick up our prizes. During the one year celebration and the unvieling of the new drinks, Kayla and I both ended up winning HHB&R shirts and Mixology books.
First up a Base Burner-Four Roses Bourbon and House-Made Ginger Ice Cubes:
I mean…look at the background. This place is awesome. Also, I swear I don’t drink bourbon ever-except at Holland House. The same applies to gin, but they carry Corsair gin and I can’t say no.
Next: Daisy if you Do. This also features Four Roses…and some other things, and this is one I’ve had a few times and each time it seems a little different. I’m not sure why that is, but the one i had last night was incredibly strong, whereas the one I had the last time I was there tasted like a sweet tart.
In other news, I went to Gatlinburg last week and was saddened by how unhealthy the entire population seemed to be. There were unhealthy restaurants for miles and miles and people who didn’t really walk so much as they seemed to shift their weight from side to side to shuffle down the sidewalk. A disturbing amount of people were on scooters. The strip is something like this: iHop, Corky’s, Arby’s, FlapJacks, Baskin Robbins, Krispy Kreme, Corkys , Mr. Gatti’s, McDonalds, Burger King, Dennys, Wendy’s, Golden Corral, Pancake Pantry, Five Guys, KFC, Mayfield Dairy Ice Cream Shop. Repeat ten times. It was ridiculous.
This pretty much kicked my ass into gear. I’ve been making it a point to exercise daily; though I admit I skipped yesterday. I’d like to take a nap now.
