Changes, Changes :)

I haven’t been blogging much lately. I’ve been…well, this is going to sound cliche, but living life. And it’s been enjoyable, but this doesn’t mean I haven’t been eating delicious food and taking pictures of all the good times, because I have. My issue is getting all these pictures out of my phone. I stopped carrying around a real camera ages ago. I like the freedom not having a heavy piece of equipment around brings me. Besides, my camera on my phone is pretty good, and it will work for now. There are a lot of new things coming up. I’ve been focused on eating really clean and being honest with myself about food choices and my lifestyle. I’m still meat free, but I am not certain if that will last forever. It hasn’t changed yet, no one freak out, but I am trying to be honest with myself about being healthy, and the truth is, I haven’t been a healthy herbivore. I am currently in the process of testing for Lindsay Nixon’s upcoming lowfat vegan cookbook, so I am going to give the herbivore life a real shot, but if I don’t feel and look better after testing is over, I will have to make some changes. This is a personal decision, and not one I’d take lightly, so I would prefer not being judged or attacked, like I was when I posted the blog about how veganism led to massive weight gain and me being less healthy than I’ve ever been in my life. That was awful and it made me feel defensive and like I couldn’t be honest on my own blog-which is absolutely ridiculous. Anyways, expect an epic picture post tomorrow ❤

I like cumin and smoked paprika way more than I should, winter squashes make me happy, and while I do like most fruits, I only *love* berries and mangoes. I'd rather have salty snacks than sweets, and the darker chocolate is, the better. I still think Earth Balance is the best fake butter, Vegenaise is the best vegan mayo, and Almond Milk tastes better than soy milk. Chia seeds are my favorite egg substitute for the most part, and pumpkin tends to bind better than applesauce-especially in chocolate goods. I know a lot about food and nutrition, but that doesn't mean I'm the healthiest person. I tend to avoid eating out because I know I can make food that tastes better at home.

  1. Everybody has to make their own decisions about what they choose to eat, and the vegan police are just there to bring you down and give veganism a bad name. So you do what you gotta do, girl. And shake them haters off … although it would be WAY cool for the animals if the vegan thing does end up working out! But if not, don’t sweat it. You could always go all health-vegan, but that’s hard. I love ramen and ice cream and french fries way too much for that. But I’m sure the HH way might be the best step to get on the healthy vegan track. Good luck with whatever you do!

    • Thank you for your kind words. I feel the same way and trust me, I’m not walking away any time soon. I feel like even if I did, i would still end up mostly vegan by default, this lifestyle isn’t something i can easily let go of. It’s a part of me that I love!

  2. You have to listen to your body and work what works for you. If that means eating meat, eat meat. If that means going to just include eggs or fish or whatever it is that works for you. But just eat what your body needs. This is the journey I’m currently on. I am going to be giving up gluten to see how that works out for me. Because right now, that’s the only thing I’ve not done and it would do my endocrine disorder a lot of good. But if that doesn’t work out, I’ll continue to modify. Good luck with your journey. You can do this!
